Water is the sustainer of life. In the harsh desert climates, a water garden serves to draw wildlife and create a point of serenity. It can take many forms, from a simple fountain made from a large pot, to a pondless waterfall recirculating along a ridge, to a koi pond where the water is fed over a waterfall and along a stream to feed the pond.
